The Surroundings and the Region
You can find a grocery store which sells fresh bread and croissants in the village close by in Denat (2 Kms), supermarket and local shops as well as an excellent local market on Wednesday morning in Réalmont (10 Kms). A doctor ,if necessary, lives in Fréjairolles (5 Kms ).
Locally the countryside is green and rolling rural, natural and small field farming; oak woods, fields of sunflowers and wheat, cow and sheep. We can enjoy many types of trekking: on foot, on bicycle, on horseback, motorbike or off-road bike, and even by boat or canoe on the Tarn! About twenty kilometers away, are the foot hills of the Black Mountains and the Languedoc national park.
Here, you can enjoy a relaxing holiday far from the crowds and noise of the city, appreciate the animals nearby, picnic in the shade and swim in the clean warm water of the Lac de la Bancalié (8 Kms), visit the old town of Albi ( 15 Kms) with her wonderful cathedral Sainte Cecile or discover the wines and vines of The AOC Gaillac (25 Kms) after having tasted and appreciated the local cuisine, .......or vice versa! The splendid fortified village of the middle ages of Cordes sur Ciel welcomes you and takes you back a few centuries.
